They walk in the coldest place on earth barefoot. They could be living in temperatures as low as -125 degrees Fahrenheit. However, they will waddle 50 miles to their breeding ground. After the mom lays the egg, the dad looks after it. The mom carefully moves the egg from her feet to the dad's feet. The dad then looks after the egg for the next three months, and eats absolutely nothing during that time. Meanwhile, the moms go to the waters to eat fish, leaving the dads alone. They can hold their breath underwater for about 22 minutes, and can dive as deep as 500 meters. No other bird can dive for longer or deeper. They also have the highest feather density of any bird. However, when the moms come back some of them find out that their egg did not survive the three months. So some moms will try to steal other moms eggs. This causes more eggs to be crushed to death. Moms would rather raise an egg that isn't theirs than no egg at all. This causes fights between them.
