Dragonflies are number 8 on The Most Extreme Appendages. They hunt insects in the air with terrifying speed. They can live for up to 7 years, but only the last few weeks are spent in the air, producing eggs that hatch underwater. The dragonfly's juvenile form is called nymph. The lower lip of the nymph has become a harpoon armed with hooks that pierce the prey. Unlike most insects but just like humans, the dragonfly's two big eyes have an area where the visions overlap. This mean they can clearly focus on the target to find the best place to strike. It projects its appendage thanks to hydraulic pressure, which is also used as an escape mechanism.
